The U.S. has deployed two additional Patriot anti-aircraft missile batteries to protect oil and gas production facilities in Saudi Arabia and Qatar, sources told Axios.
According to the report, the U.S. sought to reassure its allies that it would guarantee the protection of their key energy facilities should a decision be made to resume large-scale military operations against Iran.
As the outlet notes, in anticipation of such a scenario, U.S. armed forces are sending additional ships, fighter jets, and personnel to the Middle East.
