US War Secretary Hegseth faces bipartisan push over Iran war after midterms: Bloomberg

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth faces a prolonged fight with lawmakers from both parties who are determined to hold him responsible for the Iran war and other issues after next week’s midterm elections, Bloomberg reports.

Lawmakers ranging from House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries to Republican Senator Thom Tillis have made clear that they plan to focus on Hegseth as they seek accountability for President Donald Trump’s war on Iran, Bloomberg said.

The pressure has been building for months.

In September, Senator Tillis called on Trump to fire Hegseth for creating a “leadership void” in the military, and Republican Representative Thomas Massie sought to force a vote on impeaching him over the Iran war, which the US and Israel launched on February 28.
