US forces poised to resume major combat operations against Iran on Trump’s orders: NYT

Unnamed Pentagon officials and military commanders told the New York Times on Wednesday that thousands of US air and naval forces on more than a dozen ships and at bases around the Middle East and in the US are poised to resume major combat operations against Iran on Trump’s orders.

Last month, the newspaper reported that such strikes would be “short and intensive”, quoting US officials and other people briefed on the deliberations.

That report said targets would likely include Iran’s energy infrastructure, nuclear facilities, and missile and drone arsenal.
