The American side will review the Iranian proposal for ending the conflict, after which further contacts may take place as was reported on Monday by the Al Jazeera television channel, citing sources.
"A draft proposal for ending the conflict between the U.S. and Israel and Iran has been submitted for review, and further contacts are already being discussed," the TV channel reports, citing a diplomat.
The Iranian delegation departed from Qatar on Monday. Qatar acts as a mediator in resolving disputes between Iran and the United States.
Previously, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei identified a seven-day plan for opening the strait as the only viable initiative.
Tehran presented this plan to Washington during a visit by an Iranian delegation to New York for the UN General Assembly. The Iranian side anticipates that negotiations will follow the implementation of this plan, with the goal of resolving the issues that triggered the military confrontation.
Qatar is serving as a key mediator in the talks between Iran and Western nations. The strait in question is of strategic importance to the global energy trade. The UN General Assembly frequently serves as a venue for bilateral meetings against the backdrop of international crises.
