Wealthy Gulf nations face questions over Syria refugees

As hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees languish in camps or risk their lives to reach Europe, questions are being asked about why wealthy Gulf states have accepted so few.

Washington has agreed to speed up arms sales to Gulf countries following a meeting with regional foreign ministers in Qatar, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said Monday.

Πολλαπλή στόχευση φαίνεται να έχει το σχέδιο ενοποίησης των έξι αραβικών χωρών του Κόλπου (Κουβέιτ, Κατάρ, Μπαχρέιν, Σαουδικής Αραβίας, Ηνωμένων Αραβικών Εμιράτων και Ομάν ), που έχει καταθέσει ο Σαουδάραβας βασιλιάς Αμπντάλα από τον Δεκέμβριο του 2011, στο πλαίσιο του Συμβουλίου Συνεργασίας του Κόλπου (GCC: Gulf Cooperation Council), και το οποίο, όπως έγινε γνωστό, θα συζητηθεί κατά τη συνάντηση των Υπουργών Εξωτερικών των χωρών αυτών τον Σεπτέμβριο.

Καταλύτης για να προχωρήσουν οι έξι αυτές χώρες «στο στάδιο της ένωσης σε μια μόνο οντότητα» πρέπει να αποτέλεσε η κρίση στην Συρία.
