Greece’s new tax law collects more anger than money.

ARCHANES: The tax inspectors swept into this picturesque village in Crete during the middle of a saint's day celebration recently, moving from restaurant to restaurant demanding receipts and financial records. Soon, customers annoyed by the holiday disruption confronted them. Pushing, shoving and angry words followed, and eventually the frightened inspectors were forced to flee."People are so angry and so poor," said Nikolis Geniatakis, who has run his restaurant here on the main square for the last 34 years and who watched the confrontation from across the street. "What were the tax inspectors doing here? Why aren't they going after the big fish?"

If Greece is ever going to get its public finances in order and escape grinding budget austerity, it will have to do a better job collecting taxes. For years, economists have pointed to rampant tax evasion as one of the country's most serious problems, depriving the government of money it badly needs.

Das griechische Finanzministerium fordert Zugang zu 6000 Konten von mutmaßlichen Steuerflüchtigen, die auf der "Lagarde-Liste" stehen. Die IWF-Chefin hatte die Liste als französische Finanzministerin weitergegeben, nichts war passiert. Jetzt wollen die Griechen die Fälle untersuchen.
Die Ermittlungen beträfen Fälle von "Korruption, illegaler Bereicherung und Geldwäsche", teilte die Abteilung für die Verfolgung von Wirtschaftsverbrechen (SDOE) am Dienstag in Athen mit. Im Kampf gegen Steuerhinterziehung hat das griechische Finanzministerium Zugang zu 6000 Konten gefordert, insgesamt werde in 9620 Fällen ermittelt.

Der Fall ist mysteriös. Erst verschwindet eine griechische Steuersünder-Datei, dann taucht sie wieder auf - doch plötzlich fehlen auf der Liste die Verwandten des früheren Finanzministers. Nun will das Parlament in Athen die Sache aufklären: Der Ex-Politiker muss vor einen Untersuchungsausschuss.
Eine Datei mit 2062 mutmaßlichen griechischen Steuersündern verschwindet und taucht erst nach zwei Jahren wieder auf - leicht frisiert, wie sich herausstellt. Nun soll sich ein parlamentarischer Untersuchungsausschuss des Falls annehmen. Das Gremium muss klären, ob sich der frühere griechische Finanzminister Giorgos Papakonstantinou strafbar gemacht hat.

Λοιπόν; Πώς λέγεται όλο αυτό;
Ο Παπακωνσταντίνου υπήρξε ο αρχιτέκτονας της ελληνικής καταστροφής. Χειρίστηκε τα πάντα προσωπικά, αποκομμένος, μόνος του, χωρίς κανέναν έλεγχο. Απαίτησε και έλαβε όλες τις εξουσίες για να «διαπραγματευθεί» τη «σωτηρία» της χώρας.

Την ενοχή Βαξεβάνη ζήτησε ο εισαγγελέας ..«Μετατρέψατε τη χώρα σε ζούγκλα»

Την ενοχή του Κώστα Βαξεβάνη για τη δημοσιοποίηση της λίστας Λαγκάρντ πρότεινε ο εισαγγελέας στη δίκη του δημοσιογράφου που συνεχίζεται στο κτήριο 2 της πρώην Ευελπίδων.

Ο εισαγγελέας κατηγόρησε τον Βαξεβάνη ότι μετατρέπει τη χώρα σε ζούγκλα ενώ μίλησε και για διαπόμπευση και διασυρμό υπόληψης ανθρώπων, αναφέροντας χαρακτηριστικά: «Ο Κώστας Βαξεβάνης μας λέει άρον-άρον ''Σταύρωσον αυτούς'' και αυτό δεν αποτελεί λύση στο πρόβλημα της χώρας. Σε μια κοινωνία που ζητάει αίμα μετέτρεψε τη χώρα σε ένα Κολοσσαίο και πέταξε μέσα ανθρώπους και υπολήψεις»

Greek prosecutors have issued a warrant for the arrest of one of the country’s top journalists, after his publication Hot Doc released the so-called 'Lagarde list' containing the names of some 2,000 Greeks with funds hidden in Swiss bank accounts.
­Greek police aim to detain Kostas Baxevanis, the owner and editor of Hot Doc, for alleged privacy violations from publishing the list of names dated to 2007. “Instead of arresting the tax evaders and the ministers who had the list in their hands, they are trying to arrest the truth and free journalism,” Baxevanis said in an interview published online.
